Applications for SME Restart and Recovery Grants and Kickstart Tourism Grant open on 15th September.

At the end of July, the Government announced a £20 million new funding grant to help SME businesses that have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

The funds will allow small and medium sized businesses access to grants of between £1,000 - £5,000 to help:

  • Accessing specialist consultancy or professional advice
  • The purchase of minor equipment or technology
  • Adapting existing technology in order to continue to deliver business activity
  • Diversification

The funding has been allocated to Growth Hubs within each LEP area in line with the current ERDF Programme and expressions of interest to obtain funding are invited from midday on Tuesday 15th September.

Our local LEP’s in Oxford, Solent and Thames Valley have each been awarded £250K each to allocate to qualifying SME’s in their area. There is likely to be a high demand for grants and we understand qualifying applications will be allocated on a first come first served basis so we advise submissions are made as soon as possible.

More information and the application process can be found on the local LEP websites:

This is another welcome initiative from the government to help our regions SME’s in these times. We have been working with many of our clients over the past months to review their business strategy, including strategic and business plans and advise on the introduction of new technology including implementing new systems such as Xero and apps to help with forecasting, cashflow and budgeting.

This advisory work falls under the remit of the grants available and we would encourage businesses to take advantage of the available funds to undertake these sorts of projects within your business to assist recovery and growth.

If you would like any further information regarding the funds or the advisory services James Cowper Kreston could offer that would qualify for funding, please do not hesitate to contact Fiona Hawkins
