We are delighted to share the news that Meera Rajah, Partner and Head of Indirect Tax Services at James Cowper Kreston, has been appointed Chair of the Kreston Global Indirect Taxes Group. This role reinforces our commitment to expanding our international presence and delivering exceptional tax services to clients worldwide.
Meera brings nearly 30 years of specialist experience in VAT and Customs, both technically and in leadership roles. She leads James Cowper Kreston’s VAT and International Trade services, offering deep expertise across a wide range of indirect tax matters. Meera began her career with HM Customs and Excise in 1996 and has since developed extensive experience in inspections, complex reviews, and negotiations, including fraud investigations.
Her work spans business restructuring (including mergers and acquisitions), VAT cost reduction, international supply chains, partial exemption methods, land and property, creative industries, charities, and dispute resolution with HMRC. In her new role, Meera will focus on strengthening collaboration across Kreston member firms to support businesses trading globally with expert VAT and customs duty advice.
Kreston Global’s network of VAT, sales tax, customs duty, and other indirect tax specialists provide businesses with clear strategic advice and compliance support in response to the challenges they face around the world. The network has firms in over 115 countries that can assist in understanding compliance obligations in many territories operating potentially differing systems, whether that be VAT, GST, or sales tax.
Meera, Partner and Chair of the Kreston Global Indirect Tax Group, commented: “I’m honoured to have been appointed as Chair of the Indirect Tax Services Group at Kreston Global. In today’s increasingly complex regulatory environment, supporting businesses with their VAT and indirect tax obligations across borders has never been more critical. Understanding the priorities of different jurisdictions, firms, and clients is essential to identifying opportunities for collaboration and delivering consistent, high-quality advice internationally. There is a significant opportunity to further strengthen our indirect tax offering across Kreston Global, and I’m excited to help lead that development.”
Liza Robbins, Chief Executive at Kreston Global, said: “Meera was already a long-standing, active and highly respected member of the group, so her appointment as Chair of the Indirect Tax Group had the full support of its members. It reflects her proven leadership, technical insight, and strong commitment to collaboration across the network. She brings both strategic vision and practical experience to the role, and I’m confident she will continue to raise the profile and impact of this important special interest group.”
With the depth of expertise across our global network, we are exceptionally well positioned to deliver practical, tailored solutions that add real value to internationally active businesses.
