Robert is the Managing Partner of James Cowper Kreston and acts as an audit partner and specialist share valuer. Robert joined James Cowper Kreston as a partner in Newbury in 2000 and acts for a broad range of family and owner managed businesses. A substantial part of his share valuation work comprises his acting as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
Robert is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a member of TPAC which is the technical committee for the audit faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Robert works with clients across a wide range of industries, including food, chemicals, electronics, films and media. His corporate clients are typically owner-managed and the services provided include audit, the preparation of accounts, taxation and business advisory services. He also acts as the audit partner to a number of Venture Capital Trusts.
Many of Robert’s clients operate internationally and Robert works closely with other members of the Kreston network across the globe.
In the course of any one year Robert will work on a substantial number of litigation cases and often acts as a joint expert witness – i.e. acting on behalf of both sides to a dispute.
In terms of his recurring clients much of Robert’s involvement is centred around the annual accounts and audit process and at points of change and other situations where his advisory skills are relevant.
Working with overseas film production companies to help them with their applications to the British Film Institute to obtain film tax credits.
Advising on succession for one of his substantial UK group clients.
Negotiating the value of shares issued under an Employee Management Incentive Scheme with HMRC.
