Peter is head of Business Restructuring and Insolvency. He joined James Cowper Kreston in 2009 as a result of a merger and now advises clients - both UK and overseas - about re-organisation and streamlining of groups of companies.
Peter is a fellow of ICAEW, from whom he holds a Diploma in Corporate Finance; ICAEW also licenses him to accept formal insolvency appointments in the UK. As well as this Peter is chairman of the Kreston International Restructuring and Insolvency Group.
Peter has built up a wide range of sector specific experience including aerospace, automotive, insurance, IT, marine, property and construction, retail, recruitment, telecoms and textiles. As well as working in the UK, he has undertaken assignments in Europe the US and East Africa.
Peter advises stakeholders on cash-strapped businesses and UK insolvency procedures; directors’ responsibilities to creditors; acquisition and disposal of distressed businesses; and renegotiation of distressed debt/equity finance.
Working alongside our tax specialists he also assists clients extract capital from companies - typically following business disposals - using solvent (members' voluntary) liquidations and tax efficient (s.110) reconstructions, where appropriate.

The liquidation of a company and trust which folded - following changes to the anti-avoidance rules in relation to employment schemes – with claims from HMRC totalling c£30m.
The solvent liquidation following sale of a financial services holding company with net assets of £8m.
The administration of a travel business with operations in UK, Australia and the US that collapsed with debts totalling £9m.
A court-appointed receivership to protect a solvent, £5m turnover, trading company embroiled in a shareholder dispute.
