Accounting Technician (AAT) / Taxation Technician (ATT)
If you have, or are expecting, good A level results then this route will be just right for you. The full qualification is in 3 stages and can be achieved in 2 to 3 years depending on your A level subjects. Not only is the AAT or ATT a professional qualification in its own right but it is also recognised as a level 4 NVQ.
Training is on a day release basis at a local training college, with exams being taken throughout your training. This will be combined with on the job training covering a wide range of business advisory and accounts work. You will also need to be prepared to study in your own time, so that you get the most out of your studies and of course pass your exams.
Once you’ve obtained your qualification there are opportunities to go on to study ACA/ACCA - because you are already a qualified AAT, or CTA because you are already a qualified ATT, you will receive some exam exemptions.
Whichever study route you take, there will be lots of opportunities as you experience the wide range of business advisory and accounts work, for you to consider where you want your career to go. We will discuss this with you throughout your training so that together we can help you to achieve your goals.
