Accountants and tax advisors James Cowper Kreston has announced the launch of a dedicated rural business women’s group, Women in Wellies.

Initiated by the Rural Business Services team, Women in Wellies is a networking group for women who make a living in or from the land or have an interest in countryside matters, providing a platform for women in rural work to meet, share and learn.

Leading the initiative, James Cowper Kreston’s Penny Bowen said: “We are looking to establish a group of like-minded individuals of all ages and backgrounds, to make friends and share knowledge, information and skills, so as to support one another in developing existing or new businesses whilst having fun and doing our bit for charity.”

Women in Wellies will be supporting the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), a welfare charity which helps to change lives by supporting farming people of all ages if they are in financial difficulty, working with compassion, discretion and friendship.

The group will be arranging a series of events, including a clay pigeon shoot, farm visits and visiting speakers throughout the year.

Penny continues: “We love to be outdoors for work and leisure, so our activities will tend to reflect that.  We have had a terrific response to the launch of the Women in Wellies and we look forward to welcoming new members.”
